Muchas fueron las causas que concurrieron para llegar a este triste final, pero algunos tuvieron más incidencia que otros, la viruela, el descabezamiento de las élites locales, el descontento y la presión fiscal que los mexicas ejercieron sobre sus tributarios, junto con las luchas internas de la Triple Alianza, requirieron de un tiempo que al imperio ya no le quedaba. Presagios y realidades acabaron con el reflejo de Tenochtitlan en el lago, cuando el escudo se bajó y todo se perdió.

There were many causes that came together to reach this sadend, but some had more impact than others, smallpox, the be heading of local elites, discontent and the fiscal pressure that the Mexica exertedon their tributaries, along with internal struggles of the Triple Alliance, required a time that the empire no longer had left. Omens and realities ended the reflection of Tenochtitlan in the lake, when the shield was lowered and everything was lost.
